Why the Scrounging Librarian?

I decided to call my blog The Scrounging Librarian because I see myself essentially as just that. As the Coordinator of Collection Development, I try to get ahold of more stuff (whatever subject or format) more cheaply, to build the Library's collection into significance. We're a small liberal arts college, but I have university-level acquisitiveness. It's been come by honestly. I've been a collector of all sorts of things since I was a kid, went through the a vast assortment of hobbies/obsessions of stamps, coins, comic books (selling these helped pay grad school tuition), highway maps, postcards, books, and more recently, sheet music, and CDs. It never goes away, it just becomes a career.
